AlphaQuation
AlphaQuation is a little diversion where linguistics meets math. Each letter has a unique numerical value which will generate a valid mathematical equation.
Consider:
CAT + OR = DOG
is equivalent to:
100C + 10A + T + 10O + R = 100D + 10O + G
which can be solved as:
392 + 18 = 410.
(These types of problems are also known as verbal arithmetic, alphametics, cryptarithm or word addition.)
